On September 22nd 2006, at 11:30 am, while walking to the BART in Oakland, California, a young man had his life taken from him. Shot in the back for no apparent reason other than he may have looked like someone else. The killer would later confess that the man he shot looked like a person that he had got into a fight with the previous week. Was the murder random or gang related?
Daniel Robert Lynch was born on May 24, 1982, in Santa Barbara, California. He was an easygoing person who was well liked by his peers. His love for art began at an early age and continued until he decided to pursue a degree in art. Sadly, he would never obtain his degree. But in his honor, his parents would struggle to create a source for other young art students to get the art education they dreamed of. Through the hard and persistent efforts of Daniels' loving parents, the DRL Art and Education Scholarship was created.
Daniel's Dream is the story of Daniel's life, death, and the birth of the Daniel Robert Lynch Art and Education Scholarship Program.
When you lose a child, the grief can ruin your life. "Daniel's Dream: The Founding of the Daniel Robert Lynch Art Education and Scholarship Program" tells the story of how two parents who lost their son to a wanton and reckless shooting dedicated themselves to their son's memory by furthering what he loved - art. A memoir of grief and a memoir of remembrance, "Daniel's Dream" should ring true with any parent who is trying to cope with such a terrible event.
